SPACESHIP AWAY! Preview of the Dan Dare Haynes Manual by Graham Bleathman
At a time when Earth faces severe food shortages and recurring threats from outer space, the Interplanet Space Fleet (ISF) plays a vital role in the defence and sustainability of the planet, while at the same time maintaining our quest to explore and expand into the Solar System.
Much of this activity has centred around the ISF’s most distinguished officer, Colonel Dan Dare. He and his associates – Albert Fitzwilliam Digby, Professor Jocelyn Peabody,
Hank Hogan and others – have encountered and successfully thwarted numerous attacks by alien races and individuals, including the infamous Mekon and the Treens from
northern Venus.
The ISF continues to play a large part in Earth’s defence network, and has commissioned Haynes to produce this Space Fleet Operations Manual for its personnel, cadets and those interested in the part it has played from our first steps into space to the exploration of the solar system and beyond.
The SPACE FLEET OPERATIONS MANUAL features:
· A personal introduction by the Controller of Space Fleet, Dan Dare.
· A history of spaceflight, propulsion systems and our first steps to the Moon and Mars.
· Fully detailed and comprehensively annotated cutaway drawings of the principal ISF spaceships, space stations and installations, along with many of the alien craft that Space Fleet has encountered to date, by renowned cutaway artist Graham Bleathman.
· Profiles of ISF personnel, and the aliens they have faced over the years.
· Space Fleet history: a guide to ISF’s missions and Dan Dare’s adventures.
Based on the classic Dan Dare comic strip that appeared in Eagle magazine during the 1950s and 1960s, this Haynes Manual is fully authorised by the Dan Dare Corporation Limited.
Come see this exclusive preview at Graham's table in the Brunels old station venue!

You will learn about those 'hidden meanings' in your favourites and much more in “Manga in the Kitchen”-a delicacy of a micro-talk suited to the most demanding palates!

The comic tells the exciting story of how four teenagers steal $2 million dollars from the Mob. The Brooklyn Blades dabble in minor crime, but want more.
When a gang member overhears the head of the Mob talking about a robbery, he sees an opportunity. Thinking the easy option is to grass the Mob up anonymously; the gang wait in a cafe opposite the bank the following day. Their theory, by putting the Mob away, will enable them to step up their criminal activity and maybe even become the new gangsters in town. It’s a very shallow plan. Enter Jean Harvey – who points this out, convincing the Blades to steal the money instead, but what starts as a dream ends in a nightmare.
Issue #1 will be on sale along with some of the original artworks from artist Federico Zumel. Sneak previews of ‘Light of Darkness’ and T.E.A.L the new Zombie thriller will also be available.

Gabriel Cushing versus the Zombie Vampires is an action-horror web series produced by The Great Escape team, independent film-makers based in the South West of England. Also, released at BCExpo 2013 - Gabriel Cushing returns in his first comic adventure! Real life super heroes?
"Last year at Comic Expo, we had an incident take place where several panelists were injuried due to some over enthusiastic fans. A fight broke out on the convention floor during a panel on real life super heroes. We do not have any problem with RLSHs and their beliefs, but we don't want this sort of behaviour taking place at the Bristol Comic Expo. If any similar behaviour does take place this year, we will be contacting the appropriate authorities"
